NSU Local Competitive Program
*Currently all Local Competitive Teams are full, except for u13 Boys which only has a few open spots remaining.
Local Competitive Program Information:
The Local Competitive program is the next step in the NSU developmental progression from Rec Advanced.
OBJECTIVE:
Create a positive, competitive, fun environment for individual growth in a team setting.
Encourage character, drive to succeed, effort, group mentality, yet support the values of individuality and creativity.
Produce technical, intelligent players who make confident, proactive decisions.
Provide advanced, competitive soccer in an affordable, local format.
DESCRIPTION:
Local Competitive is “travel” soccer without the travel.
Teams play games in the greater Nashville/Middle Tennessee area with the possibility of a tournament or two. Local Competitive teams will look to have friendlies/games on 2-3 weekends per month against local select clubs. A league with TSSA or elsewhere may be explored, as well.
Technical / Tactical team and individual training in preparation for a higher level of play.
While development is still the main emphasis there are expectations of attendance, focus, effort, character, performance.
Team formation - Teams will be built with invitation / selection by the NSU Director and staff. Teams may be mixed with certain ages as long as players are at the appropriate level to handle playing up. The goal is to make sure the program is the appropriate fit developmentally.
Places on Local Competitive teams are not guaranteed. Teams will also need the appropriate numbers of committed players to insure the experience is consistent throughout the season. If for some reason a LC team does not form, options within or outside of the club will be explored by Josh for those players.
COSTS AND OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:
NSU Local Competitive Costs- $390 plus potential team fees to cover referees for friendlies, tournament/league fees, coach per diem for extended travel. Team fees can range from $75-150 per family, per season depending on how many events a LC participates in. A volunteer team manager may be appointed by an LC team to help manage a team’s finances, schedules, and ref/tournament fees etc.. A team manager would be given all needed information by the NSU staff to help and assist in this position.
